Psalm 55:16 (MSG) I call to God;God will help me. At dusk, dawn, and noon I sigh deep sighs—he hears, he rescues.
Sometimes God answers prayer in unexpected ways and we often perceive that answer as actually not answered at all. Often it is after the fact when we look back that we see God’s answer was much better, perfect, compared to what we wanted in the first place. We wait for prayers to be answered and it seems that nothing is happening, when in fact God is hearing every sigh of our heart. We ask for what we, in our human weakness, feel is the best thing for us when God in His perfect being knows exactly what we need.
Other times we have to wait, wait wait and the prayer we have is really not answered at all. We think that God is ignoring us. How can He promise to hear us then not answer our prayers? If you pay attention, He always answers in His way. Sometimes it is an answer of silence. Remember, even Jesus prayed and received an answer different from what He wanted, but it was God’s answer.
Mark 35-36 (MSG) Going a little ahead, he (Jesus) fell to the ground and prayed for a way out: “Papa, Father, you can—can’t you?—get me out of this. Take this cup away from me. But please, not what I want—what do you want?”
Jesus knew the Father’s will, He wanted a different answer but He took the answer given and obeyed God. After that He prayed for us.
John 17 20-23 I’m praying not only for them But also for those who will believe in me Because of them and their witness about me. The goal is for all of them to become one heart and mind— Just as you, Father, are in me and I in you.
Jesus knew that the Father’s plan is more important than what He wanted at that moment in His emotions. He quickly focused on God.
Take a lesson from Jesus. Don’t stop praying. Keep faithful in your prayers. Ask and seek God in faith and obedience. He will hear you and He will answer in His way. When you think your prayers are not heard, know that God hears them and immediately submit to His will. You will be blessed for your faith and your prayers will be answered according to God’s purpose for you.
