Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith

The first book in the Cormoran Strike Series was  off to a lightning start then is fizzled. Somewhere in the last four chapters it picks back up. It is a detective story attempting to prove that a supermodel was murdered and did not commit suicide. The characters were interesting but the investigation was slow an droned on and on and….well you get the point.

I am not saying that this book was a waste of time and I do plan to read on in to the series. The characters were interesting, some more developed than others. There were contentions revolving around some of the characters that were not answered, conflicts not resolved as it were.

Did you know that author, Robert Galbraith, is a character as well? He was created by the real writer, J.K. Rowling as a distraction. Maybe she didn’t want her readers to assume that there was any Harry Potter similarities in her new attempt at reaching adult readers, but there are some similarities, though some far reaching at best. Theories of others, not Rowling.

The next instalment in the Comran Strike Series The Silkworm due for release June 19th 2014
